Over the years, the Fish Artisan Puzzle has been optimized to provide just the right amount of challenge.
Backstory
Back in 2018, Will had built the first Artisan Puzzle ever designed, which eventually became the Swivel. After Will showed it to Wes, Wes started to ideate additional game ideas that could fit inside the small opening of a bottle.
With the constraint of the bottle opening, Wes started to ideate other games that could fit inside a slender opening. With only a few materials, a theme of a ribbon or a fish started to come to mind. Additionally, the vertical height of the looped wire helped fill up the height of the container.
After sharing the idea, the Fish because the second of the puzzle concepts that Will and Wes started to put in all sorts of containers. But because the Fish could fit in all sorts of bottles, it begged a question: what is the ideal bottle for the Fish game?
After a brief ideation, it because clear that a bottle in the shape of a fish bowl would be the perfect shape for the Fish Artisan Puzzle.

Solution
Here’s are the steps to solve the Fish:
- “Swim” the Fish up the side of the bottle to where the opening of the Fish is near the top of the bottle.
- Align the Fish with the opening of the Hook.
- In one motion (that we call a “lift-pivot”), lift the bottle up, then tilt it back towards yourself so that the loop of the Fish catches the Hook.
- Make sure the Fish is hanging from the Hook, so that it can sway back and forth!
- Now you can triumphantly set the Fish game down in its solved position.
